Maniac Wheel and Tyre Cleaner
Maniac Wheel and Tyre Cleaner is our best-selling acid-free wheel cleaner. Removes brake dust, road grime and tyre dirt quickly and safely. Its balanced, acid-free formula is tough on dirt yet gentle on all wheel materials, making it suitable for wheels, tyres, suspension parts, and wheel arch plastics. It also removes previously applied tyre dressings, preparing tyres perfectly for the next dressing.
The product’s high cleaning power effortlessly dissolves winter grime and brake dust that build up on wheels, restoring them to their original appearance. Finished with a sweet, pleasant scent, it’s also highly economical thanks to its versatile dilution options — dilutable up to 1:10 depending on how dirty the wheels are.
Can be used with a spray bottler or hand foamer like the ones from IK.
Why Clean the Wheel Area First?
Before washing the whole car, it’s important to remove specific dirt from the wheel compartment:
- Brake dust on the wheels
- Layers of old polish and road grime on the tyres
- Heavy dirt, mud, and winter salts in the wheel arches and suspension
Cleaning these areas first not only speeds up the rest of the wash but also prevents loose dirt from scratching the paintwork during later stages.
Dilution Ratios & How to Use
- For heavy, stubborn dirt: dilute 1 part cleaner to 3 parts water (1:3)
- For winter grime: dilute 1:5
- For light dirt (summer conditions): dilute 1:10
- Spray the product onto cold wheels, tyres, and wheel arches.
- Leave to work for 2–5 minutes, ensuring it does not dry.
- For light dirt, rinse thoroughly with a pressure washer.
- For tougher dirt, agitate with a wheel brush, especially in hidden areas.
- Rinse well and repeat if necessary.
The formula creates a lubricated foam that traps dirt for easy removal. You can also apply it as foam using an IK Foamer. While not designed as a touchless cleaner, for lighter dirt, rinsing with a pressure washer alone may suffice.
If residues remain after cleaning, especially in rim gaps, this may be ferrous contamination. In that case, use a specialised product like Iron Remover to safely eliminate these deposits.
